Re: Road Toad Pics
Picture links work just fine for me from both my phone and laptop. Perhaps due to being logged into Google? You have a sweet little rider there. My son has spotted a Road Toad driving around his neighborhood. Dutch Hill by chance? During the summer, yes. My daughter lives off of 131st on Dutch Hill...

Re: Road Toad Pics
Did you repaint and decal all of it or something else. How did you get the shine on the front fender? The Road Toad is such a fun bike to ride. The 100cc mill is remarkable peppy. Looks like a little paint work and you're done. Awesome. I'd try to get that pipe burned out, prepped and painted to ha...

Road Toad Pics
I’m finally able to get around to posting some pictures of my bike. I’ll see if google docs allows image sharing. Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3 She needs some cleaning and touch up painting, but she’s mechanically sound and complete. It’s also sporting the new battery cover I received from Matt Glas...

Sounds great to me. Just want to clarify that this is the green piece with 100 on it, and not the battery hold in piece.matt glascock wrote:I have one. If you donate $20 to the Hodaka Club, I will mail it to you..

Re: Gas Tank Cleaning Question???
Muriatic acid is what I used on my XS650 tank. Be aware, it will remove chrome. You will also want a respirator, chem gloves, and goggles. Have some baking soda on hand to neutralize. It will definitely remove your stains in the tank.

Re: Brake plate wearing on drum
So I looked at the old bearings and lo and behold, there were two thin washers stuck to it. One on each side. Removed the new bearing and inserted the washers and it no longer rubs. Crises averted. Thanks for the guidance.

Re: Brake plate wearing on drum
I’m wondering if I got these two bearings reversed in the drum section. Or does it make a difference? Axle is straight.

Re: Brake plate wearing on drum
I’ll check the axle when I pull the wheel. Spacer is installed. Hoping I got the correct bearings from Hodaka parts. I compared them before the reinstall. The seals went in almost too easy.

Re: Brake plate wearing on drum
I just replaced the bearings and the seals last week. I should have mentioned that. I’ll be pulling the rear wheel off today to inspect it, but I’m 99% sure everything has been installed correctly.Bullfrog wrote:Bearing(s) worn out?

Brake plate wearing on drum
I was riding today and noticed aluminum dust on my rear brake plate. Upon further inspection I could see if was rubbing against the drum. Any thoughts why?

Re: Lynden WA, Show and Shine
I missed this show. I was up in Lynden about two months ago for the vintage bike show. The roughly fifteen Vincents caught my eye. There were Rapides, Black Shadows, & a Black Lightning. I was doing my best not to drool.

Re: Naval Jelly Before & After
I’ll give it a try on my pipes soon. Although I might just try some muriatic acid, since I have some in the garage. I looked up the naval jelly and it’s phosphoric acid.

What is the emergency AC/DC switch for?
Nevermind, I figured it out. Runs the tail light off rectified power or the alternator. Seems odd to me.

Re: New member: 75 Road Toad questions
Thanks for the help. I’m back feeding now, but all lights are working. My neutral indicator light is on, most likely because I powered the Lt. green wire. I’m going to borrow the stop switch off my Norton to get a brake light. Then I can get it licensed. I cleaned up the drawing last night that you ...

Re: New member: 75 Road Toad questions
I went and purchased a new battery for a mere $23. It’s now charging. I do have a light green with a male bullet connector disconnected under the seat. According to the drawing ddvorak linked to, it goes to the neutral switch to light up the idiot light. Is that not correct? I also have unused B+ fe...

Re: New member: 75 Road Toad questions
Thank you much. I’ve always liked the Road Toads and one popped up at the right time to pull the trigger on it.
So far, the battery is dead and I’m only gettin 5VDC from the rectifier at idle with battery disconnected.

New member: 75 Road Toad questions
Just got a Toad recently. Trouble shooting the electrics and I’m looking for a wiring diagram. Right now, nothing works. Main fuse is good and I’m about to dive into it with my meter. Anyone have a diagram out there?
Thanks,
Paul
