Re: Resonator Revisited What's Up??
Still can't log on to the Hodaka Club site/resonator. Keeps timing out. I did pay my dues last year, so what's going on?

Resonator Revisited What's Up??
I've been trying to log on to the Hodaka Club site to view some of the Resonator articles, but not having any success. Anyone else having this problem?

Re: Build Up A Parts Stash!
Some of you on here might be able to help me make a decision. I built one running model 97 super combat from two bikes, one of them in fair condition, the other in poor condition. After sorting everything out, I now have a decent 97. I still have almost enough parts to build another 97, but the moto...

Re: Road Toad - Oil Plug Gasket?
Whatever you do, don't over-tighten that drain plug. Previous owner of my XR250 did exactly that and it was a PITA to fix.

Re: Model 97 Super Combat Rims & Hubs
Thanks guys. I think I'm just going to paint them. This bike is not going to be a garage queen, and hopefully someone will get some good use out of it one day.

Model 97 Super Combat Rims & Hubs
Should the rims and hubs be painted on a model 97? If so, is pewter a good choice? This old bike had sat out in the weather and the spokes got rusty and the aluminum hubs and rims were oxidized. I've sanded them down and polished and they they look pretty good now, so I'm wondering if I should leave...

I just today saw your comments, DR. Thanks for that. I'll probably stick with the points ignition for now, though.

Re: for sale section
Makotosun, maybe its just me, but I'd bet a lot of us on this site were unaware of hodakaclassified. I have plenty of parts sitting around on shelves, mostly off 97's and 98's, and I'd rather sell them to people on here than on ebay. I've been holding off until I get both bikes up and running. May j...

Igniter Box for Ace 100
This little kit came along with my Ace100 that I got last year and is used to replace a points ignition. Its very small, measuring about an inch long, and came with installation instructions. Has anyone used one of these, and if so, do they work well?

Re: VM20 Ace Carb
Thanks for your input guys, but I'm going back to plan A and use the reed valve set-up. The original parts, (carb, piston, etc.) seem too hard to come by so I'll just use the parts I have, throw it together, and see what happens. This project has been going, off and on, for over a year now, with not...

Re: Oil Leak at Counter Shaft
It may be too early to tell yet, but after two days, the new oil seal has stopped the leak. I had to use the old spacer as the new one I received was a tad too long, not allowing the washer and nut to go on. Also, the new spacer was a very tight fit, and I had a time getting it back off. You would t...

Re: Oil Leak at Counter Shaft
Joe, I didn't want to glom up the works down there, so I ordered a new seal and collar from Terry. Its a more expensive fix, but the bike will be better off in the long run.

Re: VM20 Ace Carb
Clarence, I'm lookinf for an original 20mm carb for my Ace100b+. The mounting flange holes on the new mikunis are about 10mm too wide for the stock manifold.

Re: Oil Leak at Counter Shaft
Thanks, Ed. I knew that you had written about this somewhere, but couldn't find it. It was a slow leak when the bike was sitting on the triangle stand, but when on the upright stand, no leak. When I pulled the collar out, much more leakage. Good to know that the groove should not be there. Must be a...

Oil Leak at Counter Shaft
OK, I know this subject has been discussed before, but I can't find the answer I'm looking for. I'd like to know if the spacer that goes over the countershaft, into the seal and sets behind the sprocket is supposed to have a small groove around its circumference? Both my old 97 motor and this 97 mot...

Re: VM20 Ace Carb
Roger, I suppose I could do it that way, but I'm going to wait and see what Terry comes up with. I just want to keep it simple. Maybe, if I'm lucky, I'll find the right carb before then. Thanks.

Re: VM20 Ace Carb
I talked to Terry today and asked him about the inlet manifold part mentioned above. Looks like it would be more trouble than its worth to go that route, but he did tell me they may have carbs available in the not-to-far-off future. Here's hoping. Meanwhile, my model 97 has an oil leak somewhere aro...

Re: VM20 Ace Carb
No problem, Matt. If all else fails, I might just try using the part that Al mentioned (Inlet manifold 913504R for 22mm carb) and get one of those carbs. Then its off to hunt for a piston. Thanks.

Al, I already had the stock manifold on hand, plus the stock cylinder and head, so the carb and piston are what I'll need. Thanks for your help. Victor, I just may take you up on your offer after all. I'll send you a pm. Matt, did you happen to come up with anything? Thanks guys. By the way, if anyo...

Re: VM20 Ace Carb
I have the reed cage and also have a new Wiseco piston that came as an extra with the bike. It was meant for a reed valve setup, I believe. (has 6 holes on one side). I don't know what the stock piston is supposed to look like. I don't intend to do any porting to the cylinder and since I eventually ...

Re: VM20 Ace Carb
Ace carb & manifold 001.JPG Hey fellas, here is a pic of the reed valve manifold minus the reeds. It has the 40mm spacing where it mounts to the cylinder and measures 49mm where the carb mounts. The carb pictured has an inside diameter of 24mm, so I'm assuming it's a 24mm Mikuni if I'm measurin...
