Re: 4th gear id
Was the gear actually "in" the engine - or just in the box with a bunch of other parts? Ennneywayeeee, I printed out your photo of the gear in a pretty precise size and found it to be an apparent perfect match for a Model 94 fourth gear I managed to break some years ago. The gear part num...

Re: Standard ace 100 rings
Thanks joe. Anyone else interested I found a guy that makes rings or he gets of the self one and may grind thicknesses if that route is easier. They were $12 a piece.

Steens e code question
Hello, I have a steens alport with an e code engine it’s E22XXX and it has the ace 100 head with the 20mm mikuni. My question is during rebuild found the 4th gear had a broken tooth and the 4th gear is a 22 tooth. From the parts breakdown on the ace 100 it shows 4th gear as being 25 tooth. I have an...

Need help with correct exhaust
Hello,
I need help with what style exhaust this 1970 ace 100 should have. It looks like they may have used 2 different style exhausts maybe one was earlier. Anyway here's a photo.

Re: Black oil dipstick
Not all of the Bonanza Hodaka's had a black dipstick. Some did and some did not. Some of the Hodaka cutaway engines also had a black dipstick. Yes Clarence is correct that the black framed Nigerian bikes did have a black dipstick. Hodaka also made a gray plastic dipsticks. You are right. I have see...

Re: Black oil dipstick
All the bonanzas I've seen originally had the black plastic ones. I take it the hodaka branded bikes didn't have these. Maybe they were just in the early e-code bikes. Not sure. They pop up once in awhile on eBay but not very often. They look just like the white ones just black. I guess I could pain...

Black oil dipstick
I recently got a bonanza bc1500sh survivor with the ace100. It is all original and complete except for the dipstick that is supposed to be black. I want the bike to be correct but can't find a black one. Does anyone have a lead on where to locate one. Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Need help starting after rebuild
The flywheel key was a little worn. It had a little side to side movement until it was seated. After it was seated it was fine. I pulled a key from another ace 100 I had sitting that looked better. No issue with the key at all now. The can I had posted is actually a premix not just oil. I just grabb...

Re: Need help starting after rebuild
Is there anything plugging up the exhaust? My modern bike that I ride (Suzuki rmz250) doesn't like to fire after I give it a bath and forget to take the rubber plug out of the exhaust. Won't even pop. Mike Hawkins Nothing plugging the exhaust or intake. I have the u shaped ace 90 loop on it at the ...

Re: Need help starting after rebuild
Yes. It should pop with fuel in the cylinder unless the timing is advanced too far. Try setting it between the two marks. See if you get a pop or two there! And did you check the woodruff key on the crank? ; D Victor Ok I'll try adjusting the timing. I did check the key and its on the flywheel keys...

Re: Need help starting after rebuild
Thanks everyone for the help. I set timing with a meter and same thing. It still won't fire. I guess tomorrow I'll get a compression gauge and make sure there's no loss of compression. It's a fresh bore/hone that's was bored and honed to the new piston/rings. Maybe a leak from cylinder gasket or bas...
