correct brake shoes for this hub

New to the Hodaka world. First post, as I just picked up a Hodaka trials conversion. Bike is what I was told is an Ace motor in a Super Rat frame. Some of you may have seen it listed for sale in Georgia. My plan is to put my daughter on it, and maybe use it some myself. Anyway, I need some help, and will probably ask other questions, as I have no Hodaka savvy. Is this brake plate setup an Ace 100 part, and is the brake arm correct? The bike has no brake power in front, and besides the glazed over shoes, I am thinking the brake arm is too short. Thanks for any inputs. Jim

Looks Like an ace 100 front hub but some others can chime in a say for sure.

Well... I have already tore into it, so it does not look very photogenic at this time. Its the little yellow machine that just sold on fee bay. Someone made it a trials bike years ago, I would guess, and they did a good job. The bike runs good, and generally acts like a trials bike, so I am feeling good about its potential for my 12 yr. old daughter who already has decent riding skills. I do need to take care of some details, and then, of course, paint it a color of her choice, you know! I have some sweet alloy fenders for it, and it will get the makeover after I get it as functional as it can be. I need a full crash course on Hodakas, as I have never owned one. Needing to make sure I get the right brake shoes right now, and need to get a correct throttle cable and such. Bike-riding daughters rule. Jim

Paul, should have what you need here at Strictly Hodaka. Where are you located?

Northeast Alabama, near a little town called Attalla. 50 minutes south to Barber Motorsports Park, and 1.5 hours north to Trials Training Center. :D

I'll agree with Terry. Looks like an Ace100B or 100B+ front hub, evidenced by the brake switch mounting hole(s).

OK, how about the brake arm. Is it not supposed to be long enough to pull the cable straight down. This arm does not extend that far, causing the cable to have to bend. The brake arm on the rear brake is the same length on my bike. One, or the other may be a wrong part? Thanks. Jim

Here is the Ace front wheel and brake for my WomAce. Looks about the same.

I think that is the proper brake lever . . . but don't feel shy about lengthening the lever to obtain some front brake effectiveness.

That was what I was thinking. This bike has a shorty lever at the bar, which I am going to replace with a full size lever, then I was wondering if someone could verify that the brake arms on Hodakas will interchange, and which arm might be a little longer than the one I have. The bike is getting set up for my daughter, so ease of pulling all levers is important. Any suggestions are welcome, and info about making the clutch pull as light as possible is also needed. Thanks.
