Super Rat (98) CDI Rotor HELP!!

I am trying to remove the CDI rotor from the crank shaft so that I can split the case. My problem is how do you get the rotor nut off (is it left handed threads?). What is the best way to stabilize the crank to keep the rotor from turning while trying to remove the rotor nut? Also, if and when, I get the rotor nut off, do I have to buy that CDI rotor puller to get the rotor itself off or is there a cheaper, clever way to do it? I believe that the Super Rat (98) and the Super Combat are the only ones that have this type of CDI Rotor (just my luck). Very frustrating, Linc

A impact wrench is what I use, it is just a regulare thread. Lefty loosy. Yes you will need the correct puller to get it off.

Ditto what Terry said. (and the ONLY left hand thread on the whole machine is the clutch nut)

OK...Thanks Terry and Ed for the info I got the rotor nut off, now, can I use a regular wheel puller to get this CDI rotor off? Anyone tried this? Why must a special tool be used? Linc

I would only use the correct puller, any other style puller could damage the rotor because you are pulling on the outer part. Sometimes they are on there pretty good and the rotor is not hardened steel and could be deformed. Once that happens you are going to be seeking a new one.
