I have a pair of rings for my Wombat, and one ring is plain cast iron, while the other has a silver band around the outside. Does anyone know which of these should be the upper ring?
Thanks for any insight.

The one with the chrome on it is the top ring.

Hello BcHappy, maybe an explanation would be good as to why each ring manf., uses certain designs and materials, for upper or lower groves and for what reason they are made the way they are. Same holds true when a two ring piston has an extra thin spring type ring item to be put in place along with other rings. A single ring piston explanation may also be worth while to the Hodaka world. Each piston manf. has good info on why these rings are made the way they are, and what each ring does. One designed to scrap carbon off cyclinder and one to distribute oil and keep things slick. Especially important on a cast iron cylinder on a two stroke motor. thanks Bruce Young Hodakaparts.com IDAHO
