BrianO,
The seat is actually pretty firm and sturdy, it just looks like it is from a toy. The base is plywood. Tank is decent except for the paint job. I got it running, strange the carb does not have an idle adjustment. The left inner case is damaged, post broken off. I was thinking of driving a set screw in what's left of the post to stop the oil leaking, and building it up the post with JB Weld, might work for awhile. The foot pegs are gone and metal has been welded on as a crude replacement. The thing is a bit of a mess, impulse buy (another one).
Yours looks much better.

Forrest,
My Steen is finished and I'll have it at Hodaka Days. Are you going to be there? There is a guy selling NOS seats on Ebay.

Bulfrog

I have a 72 Steen that I need to clean up. Looking at your exhaust pipe. Do the Steen pipes have a spark arrestor with the Forest Approved stamp on them?

Dirtsquirt,
Yes they do have a spark arrestor/with stamp on them. I know where there might be a really nice pipe for sale. 1 tiny (almost invisible) dent, ceramic coated, and rechromed exhaust guards.....

They came with a 20mm Mikuni carb (same as on the Ace 100's).

The 20mm carb has idle adjustment located at the carb top.

Here I one I got about 15 years ago and have had sitting in a storage container. Pulled it out to see if I can get it running and make either restore or sale.... Don't know.

I own one Steen but it has cerini forks. Primarily all the photos have leading link forks. Does anyone have some history of these bikes such as when they first came out, when the switch was from earl's to cerini's forks and when they ceased production? When my bike was new, it was white in color.

Ed, I have one left, in complete rebuilding stage, slow but sure, what have you determined with your research. Bruce
I know that Terry Larson, builds several a year, and he has back up stock,s and a parts source, like no other.
