Wombat left main crank seal

I have a question. I installed the left crank seal flush with the case. Is this a bad thing? I read a service bulletin about this but don't know if this impacts a wombat 94. Has anyone had lubrication problems from this?

This is off the top of my head - seems like they were originally a 5mm depth but now a 7mm? So leaving it out just a bit is the way to go with a 7?
On the old forum, I remember someone addressing this - maybe someone remembers the details better.
I've put a very thin coat of gasket sealant on the outside to help it seat well and keep it from slipping out - not sure how necessary that is, but...

I know the Ace 100 and 90's you needed to leave a little bit of the seal sticking out so you do not block the oil hole to the left crank bearing. I just rebuilt an Ace 100 and the seal was pushed flush to the case, that bearing had seemed to suffer some compared to the other side.

Yup, pressing the seal in flush is not a good thing. As mentioned, it will block off the oil "dribble" from the lubrication tunnel/hole which supplies oil to the "outside" of the crank bearing . . . but far more importantly that oil supply is critical for the health of the seal itself.
While it isn't any fun, at least that seal can removed/replaced with engine in the frame . . . and that is what I'd recommend. Be sure to NOT press the replacement seal in flush.

Thanks everyone. I pulled the seal and replaced it with a new one. I guess it is an experience at best. I have 4 others to build and will not make that mistake again.
