need some help please

Post by waynesworld66 »

hello,

my name is wayne allgood and i live in augsburg, germany and i have recently purchased an hodaka 250 sl red tank with 1236 miles on it. it has no papers or title with it, it was left in a barn in the 70's by a soldier and found later from the seller that i bought it from. he conserved it and put it in a room from his motorcycle club as decoration. as you can imagine, it is in pretty good shape.

now, i want to registrer the bike over here but i have nothing to prove that this is the original shape that the bike was delivered from the factory. what i would need would be the technical data sheet that was delivered with the bike and a copy of an original title. the germans are pretty tough on situations like this, so i need to gather as much info as possible.

my bike doesn't have any blinkers on it, are they still available? they are 6v, at least i think that i read that on your homepage. what type of tires where on the bike originally, maybe you have some nice pics and info that would(could)help me.

i know that i am asking for alot, but i am in need of your help.

what shipping cost to germany?
what are the opening hours of your shop ?

thanks alot

motor # R 03015
frame # N 03035

what info do you still need from me?

Wayne:

You can look up a lot of the information you are chasing by going to the Strictly Hodaka business site then searching out the parts list for the model you have. Every part is illustrated and identified.

Answering your multiple questions would require someone to spend a large amount of time researching and typing -- and you can do a lot of the research quite easily yourself.

On another note, it would sure be interesting to know the story of how a Hodaka 250 got to Germany!

Wayne I also received your request for this information in the private email you had sent and as Ed said if you can please run through the illustrated parts listing for your model this would be great. It is extremely hard to try and run the SH business and respond to all the requests we receive. That is the exact reason why I started the discussion group to hopefully take some of the load off of what is asked of me. Great advise and great folks here everyday willing to help.
Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely
Paul

Wayne,

Wow... Ok... I am retired from the Army and spent three tours in Germany. Baumholder 75-77, Bremerhaven 78-81, and Bad Kreuznach 87-90. I am pretty familiar the the difficulties of getting things past the Germans!!!!!

So, right off the bat. As most have said, it should be EASY to demonstrate the original condition using the Owners Manual you can purchase from here. That is what I would do..

Your serial numbers are right and you can show them this chart from here...

http://www.strictlyhodaka.com/Articles.asp?ID=251

Do you have the title? That is going to be the BIG issue if you do not.... Right?

I would imagine the way it got here is some GI brought it over while they were stationed there. I brought them when I was in. I sold a German my 83 Sabre 750 when I left Bremerhaven.

Where are you at? You military, DAC, Contractor, or living over there as a civilian? ;-)

hey guys,
thanks for your info. i'll order this book, Manual - 250SL {70A}- Part# 709510A, which i hope will satisfy the german auto inspector.
no, i do not have a title, could someone email me a copy of there's, for reference use only. the inspector seems to be interested in the bike due to the fact that he does not even know what it is.
bob, i am living here since 1985, i was a soldier also but got out after 6 years of duty. i work for the germans and enjoy my life with my beautiful german wife and kids. sometimes i miss my home state of kentucky.
i hope that i am allowed to bug you guys again, please be patient, your assistance would be a great help in the future.
as soon as i get it cleaned up, i'll post some pictures.

Wayne, you are not bugging us! This is why this forum exists!!!

Awesome, where were you stationed? I LOVED it there. Two of my kids were born there!!! I go back when ever I can. My daughter was stationed at EUCOM HQ near Stuttgart a few years ago and I was hanging out with her in Bavaria as much as I could!

I do not have an original title or I would send you a copy. I do have an idea how you could get a registration for the bike if that would help. You need to know someone that has US Address I think. Send me an offline email and I will discuss..
