1977 250 SL

Post by waynesworld66 »

hello, first off i would like to say hi. i was lucky and had the opportunity yesterday to buy a 1977 250 SL with original 1256 miles on it. this may not seem wierd to you guys and gals but i bought in frankurt, germany. i live in augsburg, germany, and have been looking for an hodaka since ages. in the early 80's i had a 125 with a chrome tank, but i was young and dumb, and i sold it. since then, i always thought something was missing in my life, but know i feel a lot better. so just wanted to let you all know about my luck and hope that my utures questions could be answered. thanks a lot for this forum and i hope to meet some new people who share the same hobby as i do.

will do. i have a lot to do now. the bike was left in germany without a title and now i need to locate one or at least the entire technical data from it. it is needed to register it here and to get it through the german inspection. if you have any idea how i could accomplish this task i would appreciate any tip that you or anyone else could provide.

thanks

A Hodaka in Frankfurt...Will wonders never cease? What a find. Is it registered for the street with German tags? I've wondered how many Hodakas made it to Europe; you must have the only one in Germany! I know Frankfurt some, and have been to Augsburg. Nice part of the country--not too far from Munchen and Schwartzwald. Got pics?

Oops. I see now that you're working on registration. Can't help you with that, although I had a very bad experience in 1974 with a VW bus that didn't pass inspection at Elton autobahn customs. The Zollbeamten gave us all sorts of trouble--turned us back to Holland. But then, the floor board in that old VW was rusted though, so I see their point. I DO know that the German bureaucracy can be very exacting. Try contacting a German vintage motorcycle club for advise. I'm sure you'd get a lot of help there. Viel Glück!
