With a handle like "crash" - you'll fit in well here. And you'll find lots of support.

Gotta admit, I'm wondering just what kind of Hodaka project you have "crashed" into.

Ed
PS: Pictures of your project would be nice to see.

Thank you Bullfrog for the welcome.
I am in the process of building a bike for local vintage races.
Started with a 125 wombat motor, and picked up a Head, reed valve cylinder and ported piston.
I have the reed valve body that came with it, but no reed block.
the body has 4 holes to mount to cylinder, and then 4 holes on other side for the carb mount.
when I look at parts diagrams I cant seem to see the proper valve block and carb adapter plate.
I have tried to post photos, but so far no luck. I will try to figure that out.
And the name "Crash" I have painfully earned that name over the years . lol

Reed assemblies used on iron cylinder Wombats were "after-market" items. GEM and DH were the most notable manufacturers of reed kits for Hodies back in the day.

Photo of my "Frankenstein" project.
So far the result of limited knowledge and far too many tools.

A. There's such a thing as "far too many tools"? I did not know that. :D
B. Photos are indeed of an after-market reed manifold. Sorry, I can't remember whether it is a GEM or DH.
C. Have you been in touch with Terry Larson at Hodaka-Parts.com? Note that they will be on an Easter break soon for about a week. The reed assembly in question is NOT a "genuine Hodaka part", so you won't find it in the Illustrated Parts Lists - but that doesn't mean that they are unobtainable.
D. Project looks good. . . . too many tools . . . WHAAAAAAT?

Cool project! Gusseted swing arm, sheet metal work on a still air box, hand rolled pipe. I'd say you have at most the correct number of tools. Depending on how sacked out the upper end is, and what kind of racing you'll be doing, that motor can be pretty perky in its stock piston port configuration with some port work. Keeping it on the pipe on an MX track? No problem. Jugs, heads, pistons, and rings are more available.

Thank you for your comment Matt !
I have another question, about the front end.
It is a 30mm front end and I would like to upgrade it.
I was wondering what front ends fit from other bikes?or a replacement that wont break the bank. lol

The coveted front end would be off an 03 Wombat or ED-250. Rare ($$$$) but keep your ear to the ground and tell all your dirt bike buds to do the same. I know of both Honda and Yammie front ends being grafted onto a Hodie. If you have craftsman level frame building skills, there's even a blow by blow description of the mod on this forum. In the meantime, Hodaka Dave makes an excellent bolt-on fork brace and there are some modifications possible with the stock forks to improve damping and travel. That's probably your best bet. I have three bikes with that set-up and I have no qualms about wringing them out on a vintage bike-friendly track. 200 lbs in full gear.

If it’s a GEM reed intake, it will say GEM on the sides of the intake.

Do you plan on using the 28mm carb? Something bigger? The flange mount 28mm should boot right on if it’s a GEM & doesn’t have a spigot intake. :ugeek: Victor

Image. On left is the reed valve body that came with head piston and cylinder. I could not find any names on it. Still looking for reed block to fit.

I'll check my stash. Give me a week. Would you kindly Provide some dimensions. I have a mixed bag of reed valve parts I've saved over the years. Inner and outer bore dimensions and hole spacing should do. No promises but if I have one, its yours.

Excellent. Give me a day or three. Also, consider contacting Hodaka Dave directly. I traded him some manifolds and reed blocks awhile back. He might have just the one.
