Kick starting and clutch issues!

I pulled of a seized clutch on a hodaka that has been sitting for 20+ years. I took everything apart and cleaned it, then proceeded to replace everything the way it took it off. I did get the bike to start before pulling the clutch but I could not shift through the gears.
Now when I disengage the clutch and go to kick it, the kick goes right through without engagement and doesn't even crank over. How ever if I don't disengage the clutch I can kick it and turn the engine over but it will not start because the clutch is engaged.
Any help would be appreciated!

Which model do you have? Most Hodakas have to be in neutral and the clutch released to kick start. Some of the later models had primary kick starting. For example Road Toads and 03 Wombats.

Yep, must be in neutral and hands off the clutch to start.

When you say the bike will not shift through the gears, do you mean while running or when not running?
If it doesn't shift while running, theres a good chance that the shift arm in the side case is not engaged in the shift shaft that runs through the countershaft.
If it won't shift when not running, the transmission needs to be turning to shift through all the gears. Put the bike on a stand and turn the rear wheel as you try to shift.
If it's something else, post what it is doing and we can help diagnose the problem.
