Post by viclioce »

Does the 93A Super Rat have a 6 bolt cushioned rear hub or a 4 bolt fixed? :ugeek Victor

The 93A had the cushion hub. It began with frame number B53113. The first 93A was frame number B53113. Is there more to the question? --------------- Clarence

Nope. Needed to know if it should have a 4 bolt or 6 bolt cushion to be correct. This frame is B57,650.

Ryan sold me this bike. It’s been one problem after another. The axle was beat up, the nut rusted on, and the rear wheel is trash inside with a missing spoke. I have to remove 2 spokes to be able to install the missing one. But, all the nipples are rusted in place. My son in law said to soak the wheel over night in gasoline and see if it eats thru the crap on the inside of the rim.

The front wheel was almost as bad. But I had another 19” front wheel in my parts from Paul. I have 2 4 bolt rear wheels but no more cushion hub wheels.

Anyone have a cushion hub wheel they can sell me cheap??? :ugeek: Victor.

I thought all cushioned hubs were 6 bolt??The 93A is a cushion hub. You might get a big bang out of cleaning parts with gasoline don't do it. They have some stuff called evaporust you could try it. I cannot sell on this site I got in trouble the time I offered before. Cut 2 spokes then you only need three and you are good to go. -------------- Clarence

I may still have a bottle of Evaporust laying around. Tried it on the inside of a tank. 2 days later, no change. Used Muriatic Acid at Danny Cooke’s recommendation and BINGO! Clean in 25 minutes.

I’m guessing the Muriatic might be too damaging for the chrome. So I’ll try the Evaporust & see what happens. :ugeek: Victor

Clarence. What can you recommend as a container in which to put the rim? I’m having difficulties finding something to use. Either it isn’t large enough to hold an 18” diameter rim, or the edges are sloped and it would take 10 gallons of Evaporust to get even part of the rim. :ugeek: Victor

I ended up thinking the problem through. I’m building a 20” x 20” 2x4 frame & covering in with a plastic trash bag. Should allow at least 1/2 the rim to soak in 1 gallon of Evaporust. :ugeek: Victor

Stuff the well with rags and wrap the entire rim in old tee shirts or what not. Now soak the whole shootin' match with Evaporust. Presto. The main point is to get the thing out of the Evaporust, rinse it off, dry it, and hammer it immediately with WD-40. Flash rust over is annoying.

I'm a bit worried that if your EvapoRust didn't do anything in your rusty tank . . . it may be "used up"/worn out.

Ed, it was brand new when it went into the tank. But wherever it was it’s gone now. I probably tossed it away cleaning the garage. Bought a new gallon and it’s soaking now. We will see what it does by morning.

The bottle said let soak for 1-12 hours depending on age & thickness of rust. It’s been about 6 hours now with a couple of rotations. Time for another & flip it over before going to bed. :ugeek: Victor

Tomorrow, I think I’m going to look for some Krud Kutter rust remover spray. Maybe with a spray I can be more purposeful??? I’ll report back.....

Gave up on that rim. It was just too bad. Removed the rear wheel from the Used Wombat 94 I bought, & Bruce is sending me another rim, which will replace the wheel on the Wombat. :ugeek: Victor
