Summary of Hodaka Days Planning Meeting
Feb. 25, 2021
The Board of Directors and a full slate of Hodaka Days event organizers attended a Zoom meeting to discuss plans for Hodaka Days 2021. Following extensive discussions, the following concepts were agreed upon:
  • We will continue planning to hold the event at the usual time of year - late June. There was full agreement that weather and wild-land fire risks simply do not allow for holding the event during the summer or fall. It is an ongoing question as to whether or not the traditional full range of activities would be prudent. A reduced schedule of events will be further considered as planning continues.
  • Covid-19 issues, combined with the, er, um, “mature” demographic of our group, casts a shadow on all of our accustomed activities at Hodaka Days. Note that Umatilla County has been in the “extreme risk” category for several weeks (Oregon’s highest of four risk categories), but will move to a “high risk” category on Friday, Feb. 26 (sounds a lot better right?).
  • We will meet again in approximately thirty days to continue the planning efforts and review the Covid-19 issues. We hope to have a better “feel” for the effects of vaccinations and the “opening up” general activities (indoor restaurant dining, schools opening, etc.) by late March.
With apologies to anyone who may be trying to schedule “solid” commitments for travel to Oregon and Hodaka Days, please be aware that cancellation of the event could still be forced upon us by circumstances beyond our control.

Better than a flat out no , so plan for it, with the option to cancel if need be.
