Rat Fender Tweek!

Kelly pointed out to me that this fender looks tweaked, like if someone raised up & snagged the fender on the ground in a wheelie.

The fender bolts in properly and does not show any bending, anywhere. Could it be this is a fender from a different bike & not original to the Super Rat? Let me know what you think. :ugeek: Victor

The Super Rat fender lacks the holes for tail light mounting; and, yes, that fender looks like the common result of over zealous wheelie attempts!

But there’s no bends or tweaks in it. The fender has a perfectly round, unbent shape to it. :ugeek: Victor

Just a look at the picture, it looks like a hodaka fender (mostly because of the chain relief area). It doesn't look right, not enough of a radius for a rat fender. I don't know if they differ, but it could be from a Combat Wombat or Dirt Squirt, as the frames for those are longer than a Rats.

Victor you are correct Does not look like a wheelie bend. What I see, is someone shortened up the back end alot, tipped it up giving the appearance of out of round, like a wheelie bend. Could be some of both. -------------- Clarence

Victor the cables are not routed properly the throttle cable goes on the left side of the tank, the clutch cable on the right side of the tank where you have the throttle cable. --------------- Clarence

My opinion is the fender is bent upward as the fender mount/number plate bracket coming off the frame loop is also bent upward. A rat fender should have a consistent radius distance from the fender edge to the tire (4" on my 93B). You can heat the fender and re-radius, but lots of patience is required. The cut out on the lower fender section looks correct for a rat. For reference, the back number plate bracket fender holes should be 2 1/2" from the edge of the fender. Attached pictures should help with the cable routing and cable intersect in front of the upper triple clamp. Throttle wraps around the left steering stem/tank mount, clutch wraps around the right. PM me if you need more pictures or have questions.

Good pick-up Clarence. That could have been all the wrong kinds of exciting.

Clarence thinks the rear tubing was shortened and bent upward. But if that were the case, wouldn’t it prevent the fender holes from lining up? So I’m more inclined to think maybe it’s a CW fender with a longer radius....??? But both bikes have 18” rear wheels.... so..... I’m confused...... :ugeek: Victor
