Have any of you Hodaka riders done the 30mm fork mod yourself?

Yes. Excellent and fairly simple mod for race bikes. The forks are more "tuneable" with traditional fork oil/preload spacers and thus more responsive to the terrain as a result of more control of damping and a bit more travel. I would say the real benefit is more due to the improved damping than the inch or so of useable travel increase - especially where breaking bumps are concerned. I do recommend a fork brace for MX and more aggressive trailing though.

I would like to do this also. The article states "The stock spring and spacer should be replaced by a full length spring such as Webco 2128". Any recommendations on where to get a correct replacement spring?

I use the stock springs and just add a short piece of PVC pipe to take up the space. You can fine tune the spring pre-load by varying the length of the spacer-more pre-load longer spacer, less pre-load shorter spacer. You can also adjust fork oil, both viscosity (weight) and amount.

Exactly. You really end up with a remarkably tune-able fork.

I will be attempting the Hodaka 30mm Fork Mod tomorrow. It seems pretty straight forward. So, I hope that it is a success.
