i am a new HodakaAce 100B owner, wondering where the heck the drain plug is for my bike? Trying to do transmission oil.

It's hiding out at the rear of the engine in front of the swing arm pivot above a frame brace tube. It's awkward but if you come at it from the rear there's enough room - 13mm - but not a lot. If you lean the bike way over to the left you might get some more out of the primary side. There should be a fiber washer under the plug which may wander off if it hasn't already.

What are you intending to put in? The dipstick is designed to be read AFTER you have fully screwed it in; bike level. There are several choices of oil to use, but avoid using 'energy saving' car oils because they aren't good in the clutch.

Their is not a drain plug to be found. I have two different crank cases wiith Only the fill plug above the kickstarter. Guessing this engine was rebuilt and need to order a case with a plug. Had to literally open the case to run out old oil.

I am reading it does not take transmission but gear oil? Is that correct? I have some Tran Belray 75SAE but dont want to pt that in If i am wrong?

The drain plug is in the right case half where the yellow arrow points. There’s a 13mm bolt head just in front of the lower rear motor mount in the case. Victor

Is BelRay Gear Saver SAE75W Tran Oil the same as Gear Oil?

Thanks Victor but I do not have that crank case, in fact I am thinking the crank cases I got are completely wrong.

you have pictured the shifter cover and the clutch cover. Theses attach to the center cases which should have the cylinder bolted to it. And the case half has the motor number on it.

What are the center cases? When i pulled the clutch case and shift cover off this is what I have. Thinking I may have just found the drain plug? So why when I cracked these covers oil came out? Is that just the oil/gas mixture from tank?

There's no other way to put it; you need to get your hands on a Hodaka Workshop Manual and start reading. You should join the Hodaka Club and also start reading up in the library at Hodakparts.com.

The good news is that these bikes are about as simple as it gets, plus there is just so much help and expertise available.
And , yes, that Is the drain plug. And Bel Ray 75W should be fine although I think the 80W is preferred. 580cc is the capacity or 1 1/4 pints or 20 oz.

There is a roller that fits in the hole in the clutch side case where it contacts the clutch. I hope it's somewhere in the parts pile in the case. Stick it back in with a dab of grease to hold it while you put the cover back on. You can also use grease to hold the gasket back in place.

The shifter side replacement will require you to re engage the shift mechanism which isn't all that hard and you can see what you are doing if you take off the little access cover with two screws.

All in all, the longer method of changing oil, but you'll learn a lot along the way.

The “roller” he speaks about is a single roller bearing, called a kick roller. It’s 8mm in size. It goes in the hole the yellow arrow points to.

Vicolice, how do you re-engage shift mechanism?

It looks to me like the filler plug/dipstick has been replaced with a 'something' to just plug the hole. The clutch is also missing the safety wire on the screws that hold it together. I'm not feeling confident about the 'rebuilt' status.

You're gonna want that safety wire.

It keeps the screws from unscrewing.

Get something that fits from the hardware store.

Don't leave home without that wire!
