New guy here. Hello all. Happy to be here. Just picked up a 73 Dirt Squirt just like my first bike I got with my paper route money back in the day. GREAT bike. Anyways does anyone know if the Super Rat air filter is the same as mine? I find listing for Super Rat AF but the Dirt Squirt listing is for a much later year and doesnt look right in the photo. (Ebay) Super Rat photo looks like it might be it though. Also mine is called a model 96? right? Thanks and Hodaka Rules!! Long live Hodaka!!

Welcome aboard.
Go to hodaka-parts.com and search for filter element. Looks like the 96 uses the same element as the 94 Wombat.

Terry at Hodaka Parts Inc. does too! If anyone wants to refer someone else to buy from, Private Email them. Using this Forum to steer away business from Terry Larsen is rather Sh@##y. Joe.

Well..... I'll sort of agree with Joe.

But Bruce in Idaho has been a big help to me. If I wanted something I'd be inclined to contact Bruce at Hodaka Parts Idaho & give him a look.

He's a solid guy & an enthusiastic guy.

If there are others out that'll help, AKA Californiahodaka @gmail.com, I say spread the word.

This Hodaka infatuation can't go on without help from everyone that can contribute.

And contribute means parts to put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

eBay? No thank you.

That's my two cents worth.

Not trying to do anything “Sh!ty” with Terry. I recommend him most often! Alan has been talking with Terry about becoming a Canadian Hodaka parts supplier. :ugeek: Victor

Try or not, the Chat Group is Part of Terry`s Website. To me it`s no different than sitting in a Coffee Shop and sending customers to another Coffee Shop because it belonged to your Buddy. That`s the kind of stuff that would get someone thrown out FOREVER. Think about it! What would you do? I know what I would do. Joe.

Uh, my understanding is the chat group is part of the Hodaka club. I think you’re mistaken on that point. But I don’t want to argue with you about it.....

I stand corrected! I`ll start selling my crates packed full of Super Rat parts on the Hodaka Forum. Thanks for letting me know that the Forum is on Terry`s Web Page as filler. Thanks!!! Joe Ormonde.

I don't like conflict within the club, I would say reference Terry first, then Bruce. Past that Ebay or does anybody know where I might find one? not up to anyone to recommend or send customers to Tom Dick or Harry. Each of us should have a equal chance for a sale. We just need to think about others and try and be fair, My $.02 worth--Clarence

Joe. My understanding is, the forum used to be hosted on Paul’s website. Paul shut his server down and stopped hosting the forum. The club took it over. I do not have the understanding that this forum is now “Hosted” by Terry.

However, if someone here, who knows absolutely, wants to ‘Clarify’ that this is not the case and that the server which hosts the forum is in fact hosted by Hodaka-Parts.com, I would indeed like to know that.

There is not an attempt going on to show favoritism towards any one, and especially not to divert customers away from Terry. I simply knew of someone who had extras and stated that.

As a forum member I have always strived to help others. That’s all my comments were. There was no need for it to turn malicious. I don’t think anyone refers Terry more than I do. And Terry tells me that all the time. I make, on the average, 3-4 orders a month with Terry.

If there are forum members who have parts available, some, like Matt & I, have offered them to other forum members in exchange for a donation to the Hodaka Club. Certainly, if the old rules were still in effect, someone would have put a stop to that as well. But no one has. But, it truly is my understanding that this forum is not bound to the previous owner’s rules & regs because the forum is not hosted by a major parts dealer.

As I said, if someone with 100% certainty knows this not to be a true statement, PLEASE let me know. And IF the club has put forth rules regarding this, then it should be posted, which as far as I have seen, it is not.

And I think this is another example of the type of posting which scares new members off! You want to argue about what is fact, take it off line, not on a thread posted by a newcomer looking for help. - V

There are several good points made here.

I would like to know the identity of We that's noted above as the decision makers on buying & selling.

As Vic has noted, there's some question on the ownership of this forum.

It would be helpful to clarify that as well.

I may have stated this before, so please excuse me if I'm repeating myself:

Dues paying members of the Hodaka Club may wish to assist other members with parts. There should be an avenue to do this. This would be an expression of club comrodery.

Maybe this could be handled by the club members rather than this forum.

It's my understanding that forum participants may or may not be dues paying members of the Hodaka Club.

Al The we do not want the activity of buying and selling on our current forum. dated January 20 - 2019. By the administrator.
It is listed under ---- Announcements: (Posting " for sale '' on the club forum )
It is at the top of the header, every time i bring up Club Forum on my computer, I have taken it for what it says.
There are 5,169 hodaka items listed on EBAY, I personally would not want this to be that. Spades are spades and so are shovels. ---------------- Clarence

Ok all; let’s all take a deep breath and relax.
The chat group site is “owned” by the Hodaka Club. It is managed by the Club board and volunteers who have limited time. At the present time, the Club and the volunteer managers have determined that we lack the staff time and knowledge to support parts sales. Additionally, as both Terry (HODAKA PARTS INC./ Hodaka-Part.com) and Bruce (HODAKAPARTSIDAHO.COM) are the primary sources for Hodaka parts, and are also valued Club supporters, we want to help them thrive so we continue to have access to the parts necessary for our bikes. Accordingly, we discourage parts sales or advertising on the forum.
Many of us (myself included) have way more parts than we are likely to ever use, but should not be competing here with the primary sources. When a participant is seeking an unusual item – which is not available from the above - it is acceptable to offer assistance, but such is best done via direct contact with the seeker, rather than posting as part of the Chat group.
Additionally, Hodakas are heavily indebted to several valued “wrenches” (Greg & Diane Watkins, Dave & Debbie Rozier, Danny Mesmore and others). We encourage referrals to these folks, who help many of us keep our machines running.
JWW sought a fairly common part. ddvorak provided appropriate assistance, for a part which normally needs to be “new”, not used. Additional references to Bruce and California Hodaka (the Watkins) were appropriate. Let’ leave this discussion. We’ve tried hard – and mostly successfully - to maintain a positive and constructive tone in the Chat group.
