I'm not sure if it was on here or on the Hodaka Facebook page, but someone asked how to get the small retaining clip back onto a kick starter lever.
Here are some pictures of how I did it recently.
Basically I took a foot long piece of angle iron and drilled a hole in one side that was larger than the retaining clip, but smaller than the clip retainer. I put the kick starter in a vice with the clip facing up. I placed the hole in the angle iron over the retainer. One one end of the angle iron I slipped a tie down over it and tightened it down. I then placed a ratcheting tie down over the other end. I then ratcheted this one down until it compressed the small spring and levered the clip retainer down and out of the way. With both hands now free, I was able to easily remove the clip. Once done and with the clip re-installed, just release the tie downs.
Removing and replacing the kick starter retaining ring.
Re: Removing and replacing the kick starter retaining ring.
Nice! Can you provide the drill bit size you used to make the hole in the angle iron? This would be a good write up for the Resonator Revisited and a good resource for folks who need to perform this repair! Victor
