Cable colors, bike models

The clutch, throttle, and speedo cables on my 94 Wombat need to be replaced. All are grey in color. Looking at cables on the Hodaka-Parts website I see the clutch and throttle cables for that model are available, but black in color. 100 B+ cables are grey. Are the cables the same dimensionally - only the color is different? Or are they different cables entirely?

Cables should be the same length, regardless of color. But if you need absolute confirmation, contact Terry at (314) 313-5635 He can tell you first hand!

Not all gray cables are the same length. At least for the early models. ------------------ Clarence

94 Wombats have grey cables. 94A went to black cables.
I would guess that a smaller front wheel diameter than the Wombat's 21" would make for shorter brake and speedo cables.

You can compare the part numbers of these cables on the schematics found at Hodaka-Parts.com
The B+ and the 94 Wombat show the same part number for the clutch and speedo cables. The throttle cable is different. So, to get a grey throttle cable for a 94 Wombat it will take some direct conversation with a parts supplier. Hodaka-Parts, California Hodaka, others...

A lot of manufacturing was more freestyle back then. Maybe ran out of black cables? Or got a deal on some grey cables? Or found a few boxes of cables in a corner of the factory?
Working at a powersports dealer in the 70's I remember many parts (sometimes entire engines) from smaller manufacturers that were mixed from different years/models.

I received a set of grey cables today from Hodaka-parts.com. Advertised to fit 92, 92B, 92B+; they seem to fit my 94 just fine. Throttle cable is a bit shorter - maybe 3/4 inch. But, my aftermarket bars have less rise than the stock ones. Brake, clutch, speedo cable appear to be a perfect fit.

The distance (length) from handlebars to wheel hub would be the same regardless of wheel diameter, the hieght of the handlebars may a bigger issue, but I doubt it.

The fork lengths are the same across the models?

No, forks are different lengths. All of the 30mm forks that can be adjusted in the triple clamps are the same size. The early, non-adjustable 30mm forks are the same length (from bottom clamp to axle) as the later 30mm forks when the later ones are set with 1" above the top triple clamp. The earlier 27mm forks are shorter.
