Rode the Toad!

The petcocks were leaking fuel on the Toad, so I got new rubber petcock gaskets from Terry. They work great!!! Much better than the old red fiber style! Now it doesn’t leak even if I leave the petcocks open & the motor off!!!

Took her out around the block. She starts sputtering a bit just before shifting each time. So is she running a bit rich or lean? Going to pull the carb & see what’s in it and if anything is dirty also.

Will report back in a little while! :ugeek: Victor

OK. What I found was a 150 main jet and a non-ledgible pilot jet. Even my wife couldn’t read it. Stock calls for a 170 main jet & a 50 pilot, so that’s what it has in it now. It’s getting dark so I may not ride it until tomorrow. But hopefully this makes her run better! Hoping this coming weekend to take the boys & all the bikes out to Diablo Canyon for them to get some off road ride time in on their bikes, with them all working properly!

Here’s what Diablo Canyon looks like to give you a bit of a sneak peak!!! :ugeek: Victor

Thanks Albert. I’m working this week on all the bikes to make sure they are all ready to go by Saturday! We are forecasted snow by one weather channel software. But my weather radar says no. Weather channel says Snow We’d/Thurs. but not high percentages. Highest is 57% on Wednesday. :ugeek: Victor

Got everything back together & apart again today. The 50 pilot jet was way too big, at least for my elevation! Could barely even start the bike! Dropped down to a 35 pilot and she started on one kick after changing the plug. Plug wasn’t black fouled but very wet. New plug & she started right up with one kick. Rode it half a block and the excessive fuel left over passed & burned. Then she ran fine. So carb issues are done! No more bogging at higher rpms! Tomorrow, new rear brakes with help from #2 grandson who’s bike this is!!! :ugeek: Victor

Soon to be Matt! Soon to be! Come out for a visit and I can take you out there. It’s only a 15 minute ride, with the bikes in the back of the truck, for us to get there and ride all afternoon! :ugeek: Victor

I would really love that, Victor. I'm working on engineering a trip to visit my sister in the Phoenix area and the trip from Iowa puts me in your neck of the woods.

Looking at midsummer, Victor. Not what I'd consider the best time to visit AZ (wayyyyyeeee hot), but that's when she's moving.
