Hello everyone! I am replacing my old 95 carb with a 98 Super Rat carb. Stock porting etc. What pilot and main jet should I start with? Thank you

The stock pilot is a 25 and the stock main jet is a 190, for a Combat Wombat. They both are a 28mm carb, but you’d need to buy a slip fit rubber adapter for the 98 carb. The 95 carb is flange mount. They make a flange mount adapter to put a slip mount carb on. I’ve bought them on eBay for around $15.
The Model 98 has a stock 250 main jet and a 60 pilot jet, even though they are both 28mm carbs. Unless you port the CW for reed valve and put a 97 piston in it, I would start with the same jets as the stock Model 95 carb. You can adjust from there in the usual fashion, but being a 28mm carb, you’re not getting any advantage really by switching from a flange mount to a slip mount unless the carb is damaged??? That’s my 2 cents anyway.

Hello Victor, Yes my old 95 carb has a lot metal corrosion. Even though I rebuilt it, the reliability is not there using it on a race bike. Thank you for the jet numbers. Richard

Richard,
These 2 carbs also utilize completely different needle jets and jet needles. You can compare the specs on Hodaka-Parts web site.
I have never tried a 98 carb on a 95 although I do run a slip fit 28mm carb on a 95. This carb was purchased as a replacement. It uses stock jetting except it likes a smaller main jet. I got there slowly and cautiously!

Here’s an adapter to put a slip fit 28mm carb on a flange mount.
