That’s the worst case of kick shaft retainer damage I’ve seen so far!!!

First broken shaft I've ever seen.

Bit of a disappointment there.
But the challenge is there to replace what's bad & put it back together.

Cases are broken in critical areas, I'm just gonna gather the reusable parts.

How did this happen??? I’m assuming the retainer broke but the main shaft?? Did pieces of the retainer jam up the main shaft?

Hard to tell, the missing pieces of the roller retainer and the rollers weren't in the case. The right side bearing on the main shaft was loose in the case. The right side case half was heavily welded around the bearing area. The kick start shaft was heavily worn where the bearings seat. It was run very hard and cobbed back together.

Wow. Brings a tear to my eye! But I guess it was ridden! Ridden until it couldn’t be ridden any longer. Too bad there wasn’t as much respect for the bike as there was for its ride. Oh well. Best of luck.

Turns out the whole kichstart is shot, short of the piece that indexes in the case. Turns out I can use the counter shaft assembly in a Rat motor that someone welded the sprocket to the shaft. Maybe the only plus out of that motor. The crank needs a rebuild, and I may salvage the cylinder. Not much else usable.
