Is it possible to remove the head and cylinder without taking the engine out of the frame? Or removing the gas tank? Just need to get the cylinder bored and honed for a new piston kit and want the easiest way.
Thanks,
Mick

Motor has to come out, you may get the head off, but not the cylinder.

You have to drop the exhaust and carb anyway, after that, drop the chain, unplug the wires and pull 3 bolts and out it comes.

Thanks guys!! Guess the engine comes out. Now just pray the head nuts come off without the studs (been there done that).
Thanks again,
Mick

I believe I have removed the cylinder on my B+ without removing the bottom end.
It's a bit tight. I left the tank on.
That's my recollection. Give it a try.

You may as well pull the tank. It’s just 3 bolts. You must disconnect the carb fuel line & pull the carb off the cylinder anyway. With the tank off you’ll have more room.

The biggest bummer is when you slide the Cylinder up and all the sand and grit in between the Cylinder and the 4 studs drops inside the Engine. Joe.

Good point Joe. Always give the bike a THOROUGH cleaning before starting any work.
