I have a 68 Ace100, I understand the clutch hub bushing needs to be installed in the right direction, I noticed that the oil grooves only reach one end. any help would be appreciated

The open end of the oil grooves on the pinion bushing is installed first. In other words, the open ends of the grooves face the engine case.

Remember the thrust washer goes first.----------------- Clarence

The thrust washer is the heavy one. It's almost like a spacer....

Dang! That particular drawing from the Illustrated Parts List sort of looks like it shows the "open" end of the oil grooves being "away" from the engine - which is WRONG. It was a very good idea to post the drawing Vic - but the drawing could be better. (I had never noticed that particular issue in the Illustrated Parts Lists.) So, to add one more clarification in this thread, see the photo below.

I think if you zoom in, Ed, it looks like it’s correct to me. Your bushings Both show a round groove which goes around the end facing towards the clutch. I think the drawing just doesn’t show the tapered grooves going to the end of the piece. Don’t know why they illustrated it that way, but his question was more about part #40 anyway. :ugeek: Victor
