VM20 Carb top

I’ve always had problems unscrewing the carb top of these smaller carbs. But today, I came to the realization that what makes the top difficult to screw on & off is the choke lever!
If you simply depress the choke lever down, as in activating the choke, all of a sudden the cap unscrews totally unencumbered!
I never read anyone talking about this so I thought I’d bring this up. I had to remove the cap because the throttle wasn’t returning quickly & easily. So once I got the slide out, I put in a heavier gauge slide spring with more turns in it. The spring which was in the carb was the lightest weight spring I’d ever seen in ANY Mikuni carb.
I had about 12-14 different carb springs in my carb box. So changing to a heavier gauge spring gave me a much better throttle return. Sure glad I got this box with my first Hodie! It’s made life a lot easier, time after time, after time, after...... Victor
