Did the chain slip and break the case on that one? I'd think the chain would have to be crazy tight to stay on.
Definitely one for the wall.

here's the one i just replaced, maybe that's why the side case
was missing

I did a chain and sprocket replacement on a Z-1 Kawasaki once, he rode it to the shop. The front sprocket was near smooth, the the rear wasn't much better. And he RODE it in. I wish I had kept those on the wall.
