Hello all,

I have a friend that just picked up a ‘77 SL250 that’s really clean and in great shape, tool kit and all. I don’t know much about them so I thought I’d ask for some basic info to get started.

Looks like the oil injection is still installed but the feed tube connected just behind the right side of the cylinder and didn’t seem to be connected to the inlet tract, is that right?

What’s the best way to bleed the injection system?

Any things to look out for with this model?

Looking to get him on the forum in the near future too.

Thanks,

Bev

SL250 is a pretty basic injection system. Larger gravity feed tube to the pump from the oil tank, and a feed line out to the cylinder. Check the cable is hooked up and the pump adjustment is correct. There are marks on pump which are pretty basic. You can unhook the output oil tube to the cylinder and plug the hole by putting a 6mm bolt in place of the banjo bolt. Drain the tank and add some premix, tape a small baggie over the end of the hose and go for a ride. Leave the small hose on the banjo fitting, they get brittle and can be stiff and hard to remove. It pumps a very small amount but a short ride will confirm operation.

The stater output can be weak and the kick start lever has a tendency to strip, but fun bikes for fire lanes.
