Just an FYI here. There is a nice Combat Wombat for sale by a friend of mine here at home. It is currently displayed at the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa. He has it posted on ebay. I saw the bike before he restored it. I'm as sure as I can be that it was never raced, and based on the absence of paint wear, tank dents, etc., I don't think it was even ridden that much. Anyway, he did a nice rider resto on it. Check it out if you're interested in a cool Combat Wombat.

Matt. Got a side question for you!
Do you think a simple self stick foam insulation strip would work as the gasket for between the air box & the lid? Or should I look for rubber?

Hi Victor, It is really ideal if you can find the stock rubber gasket. I did use the self-adhesive weatherstrip for a time until I could find the OEM part. If you try the weatherstrip foam, get the thinnest you can find - I recall 3/16" was what I used. Thicker foam seemed to interfere with proper fitment of the air box lid. Paul Stannard had some of the OEM-style gaskets at one time. That is where I got one. You might check with HPI to see if there were any left when Terry acquired the SH inventory. I've also tried building up a layer of liquid electrical "tape" around the inner mating surface of the lid on a spare air box assembly I have that seems to work well as an alternative if the ones currently in service crap out. Honestly, I wasn't all that happy with the weatherstrip set-up. Any port in a storm, though.
