shifter shaft washer placement

Hey fellas, I was trying to get some more work done with my rebuild and I'm at the shifter right now. I have 2 foot change shaft washers and looking at the schematics I can't tell if they go on the inside of the the cover over the ratchet spring or on the outside underneath the snap ring. I wish I would just start taking pics of this stuff before I tear it down thinking I'm going to remember every little thing. Must be the German in me.
