I'm putting a 72 Wombat motor in an early Ace frame. Which drive sprocket do I need; a flat one for an Ace or the recessed type for a Wombat?

How early a frame? What type of wheels are you using? If it is an early one with the non-cushioned, 4 bolt, rear hub, you will have to run 420 chain, as that is all the 4 bolt sprockets are made for. In that case, you will need to run a 420 front sprocket. Can't tell you about off-set, but as the engine cases are the same, it should take the same as what was on the 100 cc engine.

They switched to the recessed style front sprocket starting with the 94A when they went to the wider 428 chain. The recess allowed for the same amount of main shaft thread to be exposed to hold the sprocket nut, as they didn't modify the main shaft. The main shaft stayed the same for the 420 chain on the 100 and the 428 on the 125.
