Looks almost like someone stuck a 175 motor in an Ace or Squirt frame? At least that’s my guess. And that’s an interesting air box and a much larger rear wheel and longer rear shocks and maybe a modified Rat chain guard? And maybe an extended swing arm (for the bigger wheel?) ... :ugeek: Victor

Captain, please tell me that bike is in existence somehow, somewhere, and didn't go up in flames during the Wheels of Time disaster. I've looked longingly at that scooter in The Hodaka Book and plotted how to shoehorn my spare SL175 motor into a DS roller I have.

It is a really nice looking bike. I have not read the book  yet,but just might have to check amazon. The moto library can never be too big.

The frame seems to be quite a bit different than the Ace 100 or Dirt Squirt/Wombat frames. The engine mounts are different, it has gusset tubes like on the Super Combat (from swingarm mount to under seat/tank junction, the seat/tank junction looks different and the swingarm looks different (stronger).

While the frame does look sort of "Ace like", it was an all new frame for that particular 175cc prototype design. Some significant pieces from this era of 175 prototypes were found and collected by Paul Stannard - but I'm not sure a complete engine exists - also not sure about a frame.

No Ed. I haven’t brought myself to spend $50 on a book when I’m still buying parts. Maybe when I’m done with the CW with the turquoise pipe tune??? LOL!!! :ugeek: Victor
