19 Hodakas were run through the Mecum motorcycle auction in Las Vegas over the weekend. All sold.
Here are some examples: 73 Combat Wombat restored-$5500, 72 Ace 100B+, 385 original miles unrestored-$8250, 71 Super Rat restored-$8800, 73 Dirt Squirt 100 restored $7150, and the winner is a restored 70 Rickman micro metisse- $18700!!
Collector motorcycle values are up and Hodakas are riding the "wave". Good or bad news depending on your perspective. Probably going to be harder to find "riders" like my 72 Ace 100B+ with 900 miles (400 when purchased) that I bought at a swap meet for $200 15 yrs.ago.

I'm going to show this to my wife. She thinks I'm crazy for tinkering with and racing these bikes. Crazy like a fox, I'll say.

I think the only way if your thinking about selling a bike and getting those auction prices, is taking your bike to a auction like that. Outside if that atmosphere I would say the price is half. I was there and some bikes that sold high we’re crap bikes, and some that should of sold higher the buyer got a hell of a deal.

It`s only worth what you can sell it for. A guy I met got Married, bought a House and had a Baby. He was presented with 3 options by his wife: His KX 500 went, his 66 Chevy 2 Door Malibu went or he did! He was spending too much money on his Hobbies. Not wanting to live in the car, he sold me the Malibu for $800.00. It was in Original condition and the Tags were current.Remember: It`s only worth what you can sell it for! Joe Ormonde.

Back of the envelope calculations tell me I MIGHT break even on my '71 B at these upper end prices.
As long as my labor is at 50 cents an hour. Or less.

You would probably come out cheaper buying one of these bikes already restored. I spent a small fortune restoring my Super Rat. Then again, it was worth every penny that I spent. I am happiest when I am working on my motorcycles.
