MY 1972 HODAKA STEEN

I am freshening up a stock Hodaka Steen that came with a stock tuned exhaust. Since firing up the bike once and hearing the bark of the pipe, I have found a silencer. My question to the Hodaka community is whether anyone has used that pipe in the past or whether it was just one of those loud seventies pipes? Made a few phone calls but no one remembers it. The pipe is light as a feather and has no baffles or screens. What say you!

Was at a vintage flattrack a few years ago. Walked behind a RD 350 with chambers and stinger type ends, no baffles. It was painful. Just hammers the eardrums.

Richard, pipe on mine SS is close to the stock one (think by torque engineering) but tip a bit larger. It cracks much louder than most other have. So yes, stock was likely made to announce its arrival!

Had no luck posting on this site but am cleaning it up for a trail bike. No idea of the model. Frame and forks are different. My best guess is I own a Alsport Steen. If there is an ID chart available, I could run the vin number and verify the model.

dirtsquirt74,

email me a photo (or two) . . . and I'll post 'em for you. I'd like to see the scooter in question too.

OK, here are a couple of photos. Perhaps someone can offer some helpful information on the model of the machine. Additional information provided by "dirtsquirt74" is as follows:
- originally purchased from Ted Berry in Walla Walla, WA in 1972
-original tank color was white, but was quickly re-painted blue
-title says it is a 1971, sold in 1972. Lists machine as "MX"

So, anyone have additional machine ID info for "dirtsquirt74"?

It is Steen, as to model I'm not sure. The forks are external spring Ceriani, ( I have a set like those ) . The fenders are incorrect, should be plastic front and rear. And the pipe could be mounted better, should parallel the bottom of the seat.

The 1972 Kelly blue book lists a Steen's X-100 Motocross 100 cc, with a retail price of $395.00. The Kelly book also lists it for 1971 and another model the F-100 Deluxe Scrambler. ---------------Clarence

HEY CLERENCE

I should be able to forward you the vin number. With that, could you identify whether my Steen is a X-100 moto cross or a F-100 Deluxe Scrambler?
