My Grandfather had bought a Hodaka bike in 1972 and he is now alot older he has given it to me. The bike is in rough shape and needs new parts but i cant seem to figure out what the model of the bike is. I have tryed checking all the charts with the frame number on the bike but no luck. Please help me figure it out so i can restore this bike back to its amazing state. The frame number is A73364. The engine number is P62105.

Looks like you have a Model 92 B+. In my opinion it was the best looking of the bikes Hodaka made. Red frame, lots of chrome and stainless. Should be an fun project. Lots of parts and advice available for this bike.

Thank you for the infomation. So i need to get a new gas tank for it, in your opinion what would be the best place to aquire one. I also need to repaint the bike, is there a place i cant get the Hodaka Orange. And i also need to take apart the engine and clean it is there any good places to find schematics of the engine.

Welcome, Darin! You can find most of what you'll need here on this site. The best investments you can make are: 1. Join the Hodaka Club (best $24 you can spend) and: 2. Go to Hodaka-parts.com. That is the primary source of new and used parts for our bikes.

Original paint isn't available, but there are excellent replacements available. Read thru the Chat Group discussions for recommendations. Replacement (chrome) original tanks are VERY costly. You may want to shop a bit or consider a plastic replacement, Clarke Mfg produces a quality tank that looks like the originals.

And... keep the questions rolling here, lots of folks can assist.

There are postings about souces that can remove the dents from an existing gas tank and another source that can re plate a gas tank.

It's $500 plus kind of number.

You can look for a nice tank on eBay, but the pickings may be slim.

There is a standard Rust-Oleum industrial Safety Red spray paint that's close.

I've used it.

But you gotta strip the frame pretty clean before painting. Some folks want powder coating. A diy paint job is a $50 kind of thing

If guys that have had the tank restore can comment up they'll tell you more. Or search the site to find the reports & contacts.

The paint can be had at home d.

An Official Hodaka Workshop Manual, the one that covers all the Ace models from Ace 90 through 100B+ and MX is a darn good investment. Therein you'll find complete, well-written and well-illustrated instructions for maintenance of the entire motorcycle. Its an exceptional value and considered by most Hodaka owners and riders to be a must-have.

Take a peek inside the headlight shell for a better indication of the original frame color. The ACE series frames were produced when Hodaka Red was, well, RED. Red paint is notorious for fading over time . . . and the photos show yours has faded toward orange quite a bit.

Yours definitely appears to be an Ace 100 B+!!! I second the Rustoleum Safety Red! I did my B+ with it! And I have a B I’m going to start on one of these days.... :ugeek: Victor

I have an original Ace 100 B+ that I bought back in 1972. It is definitely a B+ (high fenders, 6 bolt rear wheel, larger speedo with trip meter, newer style forks with removable damper rods, etc.) and the frame number on it is A656**, well before A67613.
