Here is the totality of what I know. Bill Grapevine was the designer/builder. Used Hodaka engines. Trials bike was extremely light weight - partly due to the "hardtail" design. No swing arm or shocks. I'd really like to ride one some day.

I did a Google search for Hodaka maverick for the bike Ed mentioned in a previous post. Came up with GRM Maverick powered by Hodaka engine. Some pics there, neet looking unit, i'd like to see one in person. Be cool if one showed up at HD.

Bill grapevine is a NATC Hall Of Famer and there is a nice bio of him on their site. Interesting, same passion as Van Tech.

I had forgotten that the Grapevine trialer was named "Maverick" - but that wasn't the Maverick from the genuine Hodaka/PABATCO advertisement Clarence posted. I'm thinking the ad he posted was from the early or middle Ace 100 days.
Back to Bill Grapevine and his machine. It looks so light - and with all the weight low - it should be a good "flick around" machine. I have trouble imagining how the ride would "feel" when the only suspension at the rear came from tire squishy-ness (and of course legs). But there are accounts that it was a very effective machine. Yup, wanna ride that machine! Anyone in this group have one????
