OK I remember the Hub Bub when it first happened and seeing many write ups over the years but I can't exactly remember the actual names and dates and surprisingly enough I can not find it on the internet and thumbing through the Hodaka Book I didn't see it.

I'm sure many of you know the real spec's.

I'm pretty sure thy were 2 Ace 90's - I don't remember the names of the 2 guys who did the deed or the dates but they rode the entire length of Baja way before there was a Baja 1000.

I was bragging on Hodaka to a guy last week about them being the "First" to run the Baja 1000 before it was the Baja 1000 and then today I read in Cycle World that Honda was the first in 1962 or at least riding 1962 Honda CL72's (250's) down Baja. Dave Elkins (brother of Dave) and Bill Robertson Jr. They did it in 39 Hours with support including a chase plane. I'm pretty sure the Hodies were there own support team.

Maybe Hodaka was the first Trail bike to run Baja???

Please Skool my feeble mind :)

Go to the Strictly Hodaka web site and click on Fun Stuff (ads, articles . . .) See "Baja and Back" 1966 article.

The strictly Hodaka website no longer functions. I get a 404 error when I enter the URL. :ugeek: Victor

Thanks - Reread the article - Guess 1966 was later then 1962. I was 16 when they did the ride but knew about Hodakas from the beginning. I remember a lot of stories - probably Adds talking about the Hodakas being so small going where the other bikes feared to go - or something like that. Quite the ride.
