Looks like I will add Hodaka #4 to the fleet. Soon they will outnumber my Husqvarnas.
First big question, how scarce are the shifter assemblies? I'm going to need 2 of them at some point. One for this bike and one for my 03.
If I can get to HD I will be checking there and hope to meet some of you.

Rylan, it is so cool to see you get interested in these old bikes. Well except for the addiction you are subjecting yourself to.

I'm 57 and have been fooling around with bikes for 50 of them. I got to see one of the first Super Combats raced in California in late 1973 (I think). I have been searching for one since and finally found one 3 years ago. Now I'm about to get the 4th Hodaka.
With all that you are learning along the way soon you will be one of the go to guys for help and advice. Awesomeness!!!

You'll really dig the Road Toad. The 100cc mill is quite impressive and in stock trim, its great for light trailing. I rip around town on mine all the time and love it! Good scores, fellas!

Looks pretty good overall.

BTW. I didn't tie it down. The super nice and trusting guy I bought it from asked me to store the trailer for a few days.

WhooHoo!
Fired up third kick and I rode it around the yard!
The tank has a leak, the shifter assembly is gone and the bottom boss is broken but I'm looking forward to getting it back in shape.

I know it's overkill, but I had it in the shed and it's green.

Picked up a shifter assembly and put a couple screw in just to see if it's gonna fit. Will have to fab up some brackets but hoping I can hash something together.
Having fun anyway.

Cool Clarke desert tank. That should give you about 500 mile range! I love it, and you mentioned the #1 ingredient - FUN!!

I'm sure I look like a circus bear on a tricycle but I did get a shift assembly and it shifts up and down. Rode it to the neighbors and back. Whoohoo! Definitely worth fixing.

That Toad actually looks pretty cool with that big tank. How many gallons is it? I'd bet you'd need to carry some extra oil to get through that thing, unless you were running pre-mix.

I've always been a fan of big tanks on bikes, I used to have an '85 Honda XR200R (a frustrating and fast, 4 valve, 4 stroke single with 2 carbs) that I put a 4.8 gal Clarke tank on. The tank was from a junked '81 YZ 465 that I got for $100. I rode that XR all the time. Once, during for a week long camping trip in Johnson Valley, CA I tried to drain that tank and put in a few 100 mi days, all open desert, but just couldn't do it. When we got home my backend was so sore I could barely look at that bike  or sit. Unfortunately, I sold it before moving up north for way to cheap.

Looking at Clarke website I think it is a 3.8 gallon tank. Be good for the vintage class at the desert 100. (50) miles. My brother and I are dumb enough to try it
