Neat Alternative Levers

Most of you probably know that the stock Hodaka brake & Clutch perches are the same design as early Honda. That being said, I found some neat aftermarket (Vintage I am sure) levers by Emgo that I like much better than stock. I use a similar version on my Yamaha’s whenever possible.

The version for the Hodaka I am using are Emgo part number 30-73650 in polished finished. Don’t go with the XR version as they are too thick.

The smaller dogleg style are easier to pull, and really seem to only need a couple of fingers to actuate. Plus, I just like the look better. They don’t stick out quite as far, so if you do drop your bike, they don’t seem to bend or beak as often.

I found these on EBay, but you may find them elsewhere.

I just checked and you should be able to find these on EBay by simply searching for the part number alone. Numerous sets available for $13-14 per pair including shipping.

Gary, one more little trick we cross country racers did in the old day, to keep from bending levers, when the gotcha rock got you in an bad position don,t tighten the lever perch down so tight it
scares the bars, just enough to stay in place but not bend when you hit the ground and or a tree. Thanks for the lever post, you should if you wish get the longer ones as well there. And they are reasonable, only diff from Factory OEM Hodaka levers are the ball end is smaller. 12mm not 14mm on the original.

My M94 Wombat has those same levers on it, got it from the PO with them. So I decided to go the same route with my kids "68 ACE 100. I went with a local shop and paid double, $32 :o . Oh well, it was nice to have a reason to go and chew the fat with them and I got a few leads on bikes and they connected me to a few locals that "might" have some Hodaka parts. I still like those levers though.
