Testing Ignition Coil Resistance Using a Multimeter.

This is for anyone who has had trouble getting good readings when using a multimeter to test primary and secondary resistance on their ignition coils. I have two coils for my model 97 project, one which had a broken wire and the other seemingly in good shape. I managed to fix the wire which had broken off flush with the coil body, but still couldn't get good readings for either coil. I finally found out that you use the 200 ohm setting for the primary wires and 20k setting for secondary. The primary resistance on both coils was 1.2 ohms and 10.2/10.8 ohms for the secondaries. Does that right? Anyway, it turned out that the CDI was the culprit, not the coils. I happened to have another CDI off the parts bike and voila, nice, fat spark.
