I got a lead on a 71 Rat while at the York PA swapmeet...well it's in my shop now...as of today I'm planning on it being a rider.
A few usual issues, roached out fork tubes, bent swing arm..broken fin on the jug ...seat pan..well take a look.
My plan is to sand blast it first..drill the cracks, braze it, fab a new mount and reinforce the whole pan....has anyone reinforced a seat pan by laying fiberglass on it?...if so how did it hold up?

Yeah i saw that before...more involved than i was planning...I'm not looking to create a mold and a new seat pan...i was considering laying the fiberglass over the existing seat pan to reinforce it and was wondering if there would be any bonding issues...

I’ve seen some done on Yamaha’s which seemed to work fine. I would do a search on maybe YouTube for some guidance. I have a couple of pans that will likely need the same.
Complete new seat assembly from strictly Hodaka. Fits your application.

Just give the resin something to “grab” onto by grinding the entire surface that will be covered. No paint! Needs to be bare metal. You can also increase adhesion by drilling small holes.
It goes without saying that any metal work must be complete before glassing.
This could work rather well and really, you have nothing to lose everything to gain. You’ll want at least 3 layers, I think. Cloth/Mat/cloth.

My fault, I failed to notice it showed zero inventory at Strictly Hodakas site. Senior Moment on my part.

One could also check with Bruce for a pan. Seems like he’s always willing to grab up whatever he can to hold until someone needs something. Maybe he has a better pan for you? Victor
