Just received a clutch cage I bought off eBay for an Ace100. Seemed like a good deal but.... we’ll its a bit thinner that the one coming off ‘68 Ace 100 the kids and I are rebuilding.
Both are roughly 4.25 in in diameter but the old one is about 25/32” thick and the newer is 23/32” thick.
The new one is clean as a whistle and the bag in cane in has the correct PN 924004 on it, not that it means much.
Any idea if this thinner one would still work?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Ace 100 Clutch Cage question
Well, looks like I had to PN wrong is 994004, so it’s for a RT. Any chance it may work or would it just be better to buy the correct one? I’m only out $30 off so.
Thanks

Re: Ace 100 Clutch Cage question
I believe the Road Toad clutch only had 3 fiber plates instead of 4 like in the Ace 100's. That is probably the reason for the difference in thickness. You can probably use it if you only use 3 fiber plates in the rebuild.
Re: Ace 100 Clutch Cage question
I am in the process on installing an Ace clutch cage in my modified Toad, and I am finding that I need a lot of spacers under the clutch disk (the little thingy that sits on top of the clutch) to take up the free play. Conversely, you may have problems with too little play installing the Toad cage in the Ace. In addition, the Toad clutch uses the later style clutch disc used from model 94 forward. I have not tried it, just postulating.
