Can anyone tell me about this tank?
This was on a 1968 Ace 100 when I bought it.
It is 12” Long x 7” wide and holds 1 gallon.
The last picture is with it on the bike when I got it.
The Hodaka emblems are just stickers.

Lucky!! I've been scouting for one of those. I know that a lot of trials machines were outfitted with those and a few folks who used those peanut tanks for various racing applications where the weight and size savings in a track racing setting where only enough fuel for a moto was required made them very appealing. My understanding is that the mounting flanges were of the same dimensions as the standard tanks so they were basically a ready-made, bolt-on racing tank. Yours looks to be in great shape. Very cool!

Yes, the tank is in fairly good shape, no dents, only light scratches.The inside does have surface rust in the upper half, nothing that some evaporust and casswell wouldn’t fix.

I did not use this tank on my project because the bike came with the original tank that is in very nice condition.

I would be willin to part with the little tank. I have no idea what the value is though.

I just might be your guy depending on if I can afford it. The last one I saw for sale was brand new, never even mounted and flawless for...get this...$500. That would have transitioned me from temporary garage living to permanent tool shed living.

Man, that's a beautiful Ace 100!! Awesome. I'll see what I can offer and PM you. I'm sure you could do better on ebay though. With Christmas, daughter's birthday, and family vacation all in December, I'm a bit short these days.

That tank is close to unobtainable. If it were mine, I'd hang on to it, no question.
You spend some time studying Hodaka and you'll really appreciate how rare this tank is.

The tank is only worth a lot of money to someone who is looking for one and willing to pay for it.

That being said, Matt gave you some reasonable information. An NOS tank like it sold for $500. This tank is not NOS (New Old Stock). So figure what you would want to pay for a hard to find, limited use, specialty tank, if you were looking for it, rate it’s condition and determine what you would need to get for it.

Used tanks in good shape typically sell for 40-50% of new if there’s no rust inside. If you want to make it worth more, do the cleaning & treating yourself. If you don’t want to clean & treat it, discount if from there, until you’re happy that you’re offering it for a fair price.

That’s my 2 cents anyway! It may be rare, but it’s also a limited use tank, which is not a 9-10 on the “close to new scale.” Good luck! Victor

Thanks Clarence. We are hammering a deal out right now. The closer I get to it, the more I'm thinking about a Dirt Squirt trials bike build that's been rattling around in my brain for a few years now. Hmm...decisions, decisions (the good kind - make that "Good" kind ).
