No Reports For A Few More Days

Well after receiving a $730.00 Water Bill,(!!!!!), we determined there’s a leak in my main water service line, on my side of the meter (of course it’s on the billable side!).
I have workers here today, digging a ditch, to install a new waster line. Thankfully, I prepared for this possibility when I replaced the house plumbing under the polybutylene class action suit. So we are abandoning the old line completely & running a new one to a location in the garage.
Hopefully, the guys digging will finish tonight and the plumber can arrive and start installation when he gets here tomorrow. Then it will be fill the ditch back in and try & get back to normal.
Keep your fingers crossed that everything goes off without a hitch! Hoping to have a relaxing weekend. Then deal with the City on credits toward the bill, after I have the repair receipts!

Don't know about your water bureaucracy, but ours won't pay for anything on our side of the meter unless we can prove one of their guys damaged something on our side. Which of course they never do and we couldn't prove it anyway. Good luck. Abandoning the old line is most expedient.

It's always something, if it's not one thing it's another, words of wisdom and experience here, carry on.

The City offers a “One Time” emergency benefit where they will allow for something like this. It will only be a week from the time it is discovered, until the time it’s repaired.
Seems like since they have all the meters hooked up to satellite, they should have notified me of a possible leak instead of me calling them to do a test. But, I’ll argue that point with them.
Hopefully I won’t have to pay more than my regular water bill for this time of year.

Well the workers finished the digging at 7pm local time. They started at 8:30 this morning. 33 feet long, 3 feet deep. And Manuel will come back in the morning to expose the old water line. Plumber will be here at 10 am and should be done by 1-1:30 Ish. At least the hardest part is over!

Check with your insurance agent. I had this happen a few years back and the agent took my water bill for the last year and they paid everything that was above the normal.

I need to find out what’s up. Insurance said if it was under the slab they would cover damage caused but if it was just in the yard, I’m on my own. Seems like if they would cover damage to the slab, they should cover damage to my yard and sidewalks and the work to repair them! And that’s interesting about the Water Bill as well. I want to check on that also! Seems like they should be covering something! Why else do we pay it?

Finished insulation & sheet rock install today. Finally started moving things back into place! Shelving, workbench, fridge & chest freezer. I was finally able to move my VL1500 Suzuki back into the garage.
Tomorrow, a little more sorting & maybe tossing out. And I will actually clean the top of my workbench! Long overdue!
Took a truckload to the dump today. I should actually end up with more room in the garage when I’m done!
