Yamadaka finished

Finally finished my Yamaha 1978 DT 175. Recap - I adapted a Hodaka 250 front end which is much better than what came on the bike , also a HT2 pipe fit nicely after fabricating a cylinder adapter and a new stinger . Welded in a wombat battery box since all the factory plastic stuf is gon to make roomfor the 38mm carb . Adapted wombat foot pegs also , the stock stuff is way too short for feet. Also using a 250 SL speedo. Lots of port work and using a intela jet from thunder products for on the fly mixture adjustments from the triple clamp( works slick ) bike is fast and street legal.

Rich, as I recall, the DT series of that vintage had a horizontally mounted monoshock rear suspension. I only rode one once years ago and that was on the street. How do they feel over the rough stuff?

Mat . I havnt riden it yet on the rough and never rode one before. I cant get it dirty until after sept 23 when I'm putting it in a show , Then on Oct 4 I'm going on a dual sport ride in Beaver UT with the Yamaha vintage enduro group . It will never be as clean as it is now so its show time

You're the real deal, Rich. As a beautiful and innovative show bike as it is, I can't help but think that underneath all that awesome craftsmanship there beats the heart of a beast that wants to taste some grit again. Glad to hear it will see some dirt. Good for you. Hopefully you can find some time to give us an update on how the frame geometry, suspension, and engine mods work on the dirt.

I only have 9.8 miles on it so far and all feels good . I know the Hodaka fork will work great and it feels well balanced with the rear too.
