Shocks

Earlier this year I purchased a restored Wombat 125. One of the last things I need to do to get this where it will be a comfortable ride is to replace the shocks. The shocks that came with it are new, but any time I go over a bump, the ride is teeth-cracking and spine-crushing. Ouch! Does anyone know what kind these are? I am not sure why someone would put these on a bike this light (a friend said that the shocks were intended for a 500 pound gorilla! I know he was joking, but these things do not move a bit.) They are adjusted as much as they can be. I weigh 165 pounds, so I am going to need to replace them. My bad back gets worse when I ride this bike! --Brian

You simply need softer springs. Looks like you have dual rate rate springs - go with a single straight rate spring - maybe 90 lbs/inch? A shock shop should be able to measure what springs you have and make a recommendation.

www.deycore.com might have something in the range you are looking for.
