Gopher Dunes on a Super Toad

I raced my Super Toad in a vintage MX for the first time (first time for the bike, not for me) entering the Gopher Dunes heritage class (1975-1980). The heritage class had 22 entries which makes it the biggest gate so far in the our Vintage series up here in Southern Ontario. Here are a few pictures from the race:
At the gate "not" being intimidated by the big bore Maico on my right:
In the first moto somebody up ahead was leaking coolant. It was like riding in thick fog sometimes:
There's the culprit:
Oops. I thought there was room on the inside:
I was also racing my Super Combat in the Vintage class, but the clutch locked up in the first moto so I ended up racing the Super Toad in the second moto of the Vintage class.
The transmission on Greg's Combat Wombat locked up early in the second moto. That's two Hodakas out with mechanical failures, but the little Super Toad kept going. Greg and I:
Back to the heritage class, in both motos I had a great battle going on with Lawrence Hacking on his Yamaha 500. He had a hp advantage but I could out brake him on the lighter Hodaka. The track was tight with lot's of loose sand that worked to the Super Toads advantage. Here we are:
Lawrence beat me in the first moto and I beat him in the second moto, but since there was a rider between us in the first moto he placed ahead of me overall. Regardless, I had a great time!
My Super Rat earned me a trophy for best original MX bike. Here is a pic of my Hodaka display:
Trophies and prizes:
The Sasquatch Racing display with Greg's Combat Wombat:
Thanks to Heather Collis for the great pictures! Here is a link to the rest of her pictures:
