OK. Stepping back just a few minutes from the Red Toad and working on the Green Toad.
It appears the second exhaust I have is either bent, or maybe is a pipe from a Dirt Squirt? (Are they different?) Do the red frame Squirts have a smaller frame than the Model 99's?
Tell me. Do the Squirt pipes have a different dimension than the Road Toad pipes? They both look the same. But, I notice a few differences.
1. The pipe, which doesn't seem to fit the Green Toad correctly, has the Spring tabs closer to the exhaust port opening end than the one on the Red Toad.
2. Without forcing the pipe, with difficulty I might add, the mount tabs on the pipe don't line up withthe brackets. (See pic)
3. The diameter appears to be right for the exhaust port on the motor but it appears that it might be shorter (viewing without removing & measuring).
4. The beginning of the expansion chamber, where the heat guard begins, appears to be much closer to the cylinder head, with very little clearance. There is almost an inch of clearance on the Red Toad.
5. The tail piece weld on the exhaust on the Red Toad meets my Spring on the rear shock at about midpoint, while on the Green Toad it lines up more with the leading/front facing edge of the shock Spring.
So, are there any markings on the pipes to tell me for which Model they are intended? Or is it just the pipe is somehow bent & needs some kind of straightening??? Victor

Re: How do you tell one pipe from another?
Road Toad and Dirt Squirt pipes have different part numbers, 999160 versus 969160. Also, the Dirt Squirt is more like the Ace 100 or Super Rat frame, the Road Toad more like the later Super Rat/ Super Combat frame. The 97/98 frames are longer than were the Ace 100 frames. I would not expect a Dirt Squirt pipe to fit the Toad. I also would not really expect to see a part number stamped on the pipe. Clearly if it doesn't fit, it isn't the pipe for that bike.

OK. So my next question would be...
Anyone interested in a baked, reconditioned & engine painted Dirt Squirt pipe? I'm guessing there's not someone out there who would have a Road Toad pipe they would trade for a Diet Squir pipe? If anyone needs a Dirt Squirt pipe just let me know, I can provide pics!!! Victor
