250SL shock length?

Post by Darrell »

I wonder what is the eye-to-eye length of the rear shocks on the 250SL? At the moment, my shocks are about 1" different from each other :? . The longer one is leaking so I turned both of them upside down (with the damper/fluid body at the bottom).

That didn't help as there was still a big puddle of damping fluid on the ground after a few hours. Anyhow, the short of it is that I need to know what the proper length is so I can look for new ones. Thank you.

Thanks Paul, are you really, really sure that's not an ED shock length Paul? I'm thinking they're measuring somewhere between 14.5 to 15" on the SL, but it's hard to tell, one was squirting oil and the other is seized, and they're both on the bike.

Darrell
My 250 SL shocks measure 15 1/2" eye to eye fully extended.
I think that Paul has stock SL shocks in his inventory at a reasonable price.

I installed a ED swing arm with ED shocks and springs. Much lighter.

Thanks Paul and everyone. It looks like both of my shocks don't fully extend anymore. One of them is stuck solid at 14", and a bit, the other that moves a bit is at 14.75 - 15". I sandblasted and painted the bodies and springs so they look really good, anyhow. I don't see SL specific shocks, just ED, on the SH store.
