Super Rat 93 magneto

I used to think that a model 93 super rat used only a Kokusan Denki FA-87 magneto. Recently while looking in a model 93 owners manual I noticed it said the magneto was an FA-127. I also bought an extra rat engine and it came with an FA-127 magneto. If anyone has knowledge about these two mags being interchangeable, and also the differences between them I would sure like to know. Thanks Gentlemen

While I have no specific knowledge regarding the specific Kokusan-Denki magneto model numbers used during the production of the toaster tank Super Rats, it is my belief that all of the magnetos used varied in such small ways that they were interchangeable as complete units AND that mix-and-match interchanges of parts were the norm. I can't support that belief with documentation . . . but I believe it is correct.

What I might suggest is to see if you have the same wire configuration (color code, wire guage and number of wires) in each stator. And measure the resistance of the coils. If they are the same, then the stators are interchangable. IMO.
